JAIPUR: Four earthquakes jolted Jaipur and nearby areas early hours morning on Friday in 22 minutes. National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said the earthquake at 4.09 am of magnitude 4.4 was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres. This was followed by moderate 3.1 magnitude and 3.4 magnitude tremors at 4.22am and 4.25am. NCS said the depth of the second quake was five kilometres the third 10 kilometres. People heard a blast-like sound and also got out of their apartments.
Reacting to the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje tweeted, "Earthquake tremors have been felt at other places in the state including Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!"
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s officer on special duty Lokesh Sharma tweeted, “Earthquake in Jaipur. Take care, stay safe.”
No less than 15 cops supported minor wounds when they were attempting to move out during a seismic tremor from their dormitory at police lines in the first part of the day. " The officers were shaken and shocked. A senior police officer stated, "They sustained minor injuries while trying to move out."
Inquired as to why impact like sound was seen, Radhey Shyam Sharma, Chief Met office, Jaipur said, "Seismic tremor makes underground vibrations in this manner the vibrations underground makes commotion. Likewise, the window barbecues, different instruments, iron channel doors and all when vibrated together on the whole uttered a sound which gave us that significant sound."
The Police Control Room said there is no immediate information about any loss of life or damage to property.
